    1. My trip to Athens for AEK’s final game of the season!

AEK vs Olympiacos 17th May 2026

Welcome to my blog! In this post, I will take you with me on an amazing experience I had, where I flew to Athens to watch the last match of AEK for the 2025/26 season😊.

I really wanted to be inside the stadium for this match because AEK, despite having a very difficult ending in the previous season with the coaching staff being fired, actually managed this year to be the most consistent team and win the title one week before the end of the playoffs. So I knew that the trophy award would be on this day and that the atmosphere would be festive to say the least.

Those mentioned above drove me to have a massive excitement, days before my trip. What is more fun than a nice break from daily life to have one of the most anticipated experiences of your life, after all?

The match, although it had no interest point-wise because the champion had already been decided, was very interesting as a derby should be. Olympiacos started stronger than AEK, making shot after shot managing ultimately to score the first goal in the 43rd minute with Rodinei.

The second half started on the same pace and the crowd gradually started to get quiet but AEK especially after the substitutions got more lively and scored to make it 1-1. AEK in the end had a big opportunity to steal the game but the chance was blocked in a very impressive way by the goalkeeper making the final score 1-1.

The fun part was after the match though! The award ceremony was known to be a promising and fun show. It started with a drone show which depicted many paterns such as: the team’s logo, champions, the shape of the stadium and many more.

After the drones, there was a live performance by an orchestra, and then the team’s president stood up for a 25-minute speech where he addressed all the difficulties the team had to go through the past year, future plans and more!

Next was introduction of all the coaching staff and every single person who works behind the scenes and then one by one the players step up on the pedestal.

Last but definitely not least was the trophy award. Everyone from the players to the 35 thousand viewers on the stands to the other 20 thousand people watching from outside the stadium was celebrating the team’s success and the party continued all night long

Overall, it was one of the best nights of my life and definitely the best of the year 2026! I got to combine three of my passions, travelling, good football and the love for AEK, in a magical weekend. It is an experience I will remember for the rest of my life and go back to whenever i want to feel nostalgic and put a grin in my face!
